W. Bedford Waters M.D. will be remembered at a Celebration of Life gathering 6-9 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 World’s Fair Park Dr.
Dr. Waters, 71, passed away on May 25 in Knoxville. He was a graduate of West High School and Vanderbilt University Medical School. He served his residency in San Diego and Boston, and practiced in Chicago for over 20 years prior to returning to Knoxville in 2001. He helped create the urology residency at University of Tennessee Medical Center and served as both chair and program director.
His obituary lists many honors over a distinguished career, including personally training more than 70 medical students during their residency. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Urological Association in May 2019.
