Mayor Indya Kincannon participated in Read Across America Day on Friday, March 1, by reading with first graders at Lonsdale Elementary.
Since 1998, most schools, libraries and community centers have joined with parents, teachers and local community leaders to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss which is March 2, by having a Read Across America Day on a date closest to his birthday.
Dr. Seuss is, of course, known for writing children’s books, some favorites being Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
