On January 10, Maynard Elementary held a celebration for students who have had 4 or fewer absences during the second nine weeks of school and their families! The attendance celebration included a family art project donated and directed by the Knoxville Museum of Art, dinner donated by Aubrey’s, and a lot of fun had by families, students and staff!
Deedee Brownlee, Maynard’s school counselor, said: “One of our big goals at Maynard is improving student attendance, so we are encouraging faithful attendance by holding a celebration at the end of each nine weeks.”
The next celebration will be held after spring break, and I know the excitement that filtered outside the walls from this one will incentivize the students and families to want to attend the next one.
