  • Splash pads operated by Knox County Parks & Rec will open for the season Saturday, May 6, at Carl Cowan Park, New Harvest Park and Powell Station Park. Splash pads are water playgrounds for all ages. Use is free and hours, weather permitting, are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Sept. 10.
  • Budget meetings: Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett will present his budget today (May 1) at 9 a.m. at the main assembly room of the City County Building. It will be followed by community meetings:
  • Monday, May 1: Karns Senior Center, 11:30 a.m.; Cedar Bluff library, 1:30 p.m.; Bearden library, 2:30 p.m.; Halls Senior Center, 3:30 p.m.; and Fountain City library, 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 2: South Senior Center, 11 a.m.; Strang Senior Center, noon; Corryton Senior Center, 2 p.m.; Carter Senior Center, 3 p.m. Burlington library, 4 p.m.; and Powell library 5 p.m.
