At least two “families” rallied to support Grant Gouldie, trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Halls High School. The Halls community rallied around one of its own, and the THP was out in full force to support their brother.
Gouldie is battling stage 4 colon cancer. After 10 weeks of intense chemotherapy, he found the tumor had grown and the cancer had spread. He consulted the MD Anderson Cancer Center where doctors devised a different chemo regimen which he is now undergoing in Knoxville.
Grant Gouldie attended Saturday’s car show and benefit fundraiser. Despite the heat, the trooper sat under a canopy and rose to embrace the friends who stopped by to speak.
The event was organized by the Jingle Jeepers and co-chaired by Sadie Capps, a family friend whose husband, John, was featured here. Sadie said their son Silas had made crosses for the fundraiser. “He’s sold over 150 and raised about $3,000,” she said.
Grant and Amanda Gouldie have three children. He is a motorcycle trooper featured previously in Knox TN Today here and here. All funds raised on Saturday went directly to the Gouldie family to aid with expenses. Anyone wanting to contribute can do so on Venmo @BattlewithGOULDIE or on GoFundMe.com.
