Led by former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty, the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is an annual cross-country motorcycle trek that raises funds and awareness for Victory Junction. Two stops will be at Tennessee Food City locations, with the East Tennessee stop on Friday, May 8, 9:30 a.m. at Food City Gas ‘N Go, 2120 US-411, Vonore, TN 37855.
The KPCRAA is one of the most successful and popular charity events in the country. Now in its 30th year, more than 9,575 riders have logged nearly 13.3 million cumulative motorcycle miles and raised more than $23 million for Victory Junction and other children’s charities. This year’s ride will complete a nine-day trek, covering more than 3,400 miles through 11 states from California to North Carolina.
The Kyle Petty Charity Ride includes a number of celebrities – Kyle and his father, NASCAR Hall of Famer and 7X NASCAR Cup Champion Richard Petty, NASCAR Hall of Famer and NASCAR Cup Champion Matt Kenseth, NASCAR greats Clint Bowyer, Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, Max Papis and David Ragan, NASCAR Chairman Mike Helton, NASCAR play-by-play announcer Rick Allen, TV personality and host of Top Gear America Rutledge Wood and great-grandson of one of the founders of Harley-Davidson, Bill Davidson.
The celebrities will be available to sign autographs and pose for photos.
All proceeds from the charity ride will benefit Victory Junction – a camp for children with chronic medical illnesses. Children attend the camp free of charge, and since its opening in 2004, Victory Junction has delivered more than 150,000 camp experiences and has served children from all fifty states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico, as well as four countries.
Betsi James is the special events manager for the Food City Knoxville division.
