Businesses from across town come together to support our local news coverage on KnoxTNToday. We are grateful for their sponsorship and your readership. It’s our businesses, schools and community leaders that make our communities vibrant and strong. Wow, we live in such a great place!

Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) places an equal importance on academic excellence and spiritual development of all students.

CAK 2014 grad Sophia Schubert officially began her professional career on Aug. 16 at the LPGA’s Indy Women in Tech Championship.

Upcoming: 31st annual Warrior Shootout Golf Tournament at Willow Creek Golf Club on Friday, Sept. 7. Info: Craig Collier at 865-804-4466.

CAK is extremely proud of its comprehensive and award-winning arts programs. From elementary through high school, the programs are designed to cultivate talents in the performing and fine arts. The school’s website acknowledges the work of artist Gayle Lee. “Many thanks to Gayle Lee for adding a special touch to our preschool. Her artwork can be seen throughout the halls of CAK’s elementary school, and we are eager to show off this new addition to our students and families!”

Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel “…celebrates a life well lived.” Eric Arnold Botts, partner and licensed funeral director, shares reflections in his blog on helping families grieve, celebrate and honor their loved ones.

The Foundation for Grieving Children offers some great resources for helping families deal with grief. The “I Remember” Bracelet provides the child or person who is grieving the ability to honor their loved ones that have passed. “Adults often try to keep a brave face, but by letting a child know it is perfectly normal and healthy to cry about a loss, the healing process can begin.”

Gentry Griffey also offers a Circle of Friends program in the form of a monthly grief and recovery newsletter.
