The Humane Society is excited to share that Donnie, one of our most affectionate and energetic residents, now has his entire adoption fee fully sponsored thanks to the generosity of KnoxTNToday and its wonderful community. This means Donnie’s future family can take him home at no cost, giving this lovable dog an even better chance at finding the perfect match.

Donnie is a 5-year-old Akita mix with a reputation as our shelter’s resident “lover boy.”  He adores people, seeks out affection, and gives the best full-body hugs. If you’ve ever dreamed of a dog who will nuzzle into your side and brighten your day with pure love, Donnie is your guy.

Despite his cuddly nature, Donnie is also a fun, active companion. He enjoys playgroups with other dogs, loves spending time outdoors, and never turns down a good toy session. Because of his energy level and enthusiasm for life, Donnie would thrive in a home with younger adults who enjoy staying active. He would do best in a home without children, but he gets along very well with other dogs.

Like all Humane Society adoptable pets, Donnie is neutered, vaccinated to age-appropriate standards, and current on flea, heartworm, and dewormer prevention.

With his adoption fee fully covered, Donnie is more ready than ever to find the loving home he deserves. Come meet him, you might just discover your new best friend.

Pet Tip: Mental enrichment is just as important as physical activity. Toys that encourage problem-solving, sniffing, or chewing can keep energetic dogs happy and well-balanced.
