Jacobs to visit Fountain City

Mayor Glenn Jacobs will speak to the Fountain City Business & Professional Association at noon Wednesday, April 14, at Beaver Brook Country Club. Lunch is $14 and includes dessert and drink. The club has resumed in-person meetings at a new location. The president is Jeff Bagwell of Rural Metro Fire.

Vaccination clinic paused: Pellissippi State Community College is pausing operations at its Blount County Campus drive-thru vaccination clinic because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have recommended a hold on the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine for now. College staff will be contacting those who have made appointments to receive their vaccinations this Friday and Saturday. PSCC vaccinated 190 individuals on Friday and 179 on Saturday.

Knox County Schools will hold a community budget meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, at Central High School, 5321 Jacksboro Pike. The meeting will be streamed live and may be viewed here. Two or more Board of Education members may be in attendance.

Enhance Powell will meet Thursday, April 15, 5 p.m. at The Barn (Laura and Larry Bailey’s place on Emory Road.

Powell Clean Up Day is Saturday, April 17. Meet at 8 a.m. at Food City parking lot. Look for the AAMCO Knucklebusters truck. Ask for Michael L.

Work Day at Powell Station Park will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.
