State Rep. Sam McKenzie and his Republican opponent, former Rep. Pete Drew, will speak Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8 a.m. at Regions Bank, 1503 E. Magnolia Ave., for the monthly meeting of the East Knox Business & Professional Association. The election for the District 15 House seat will be Tuesday, Nov. 8. The candidates will be asked questions by moderator Damon Rawls as well as written questions from the audience. A light breakfast will be provided.
Costume 5k is fun for all
Get out your superhero capes, your princess tutus or your animal onesies – it’s a costume 5k! Join the Cansler Y for a free and fun Costume 5k Social Run starting and ending at the Cansler Y. It’s set for Sunday, Oct. 30, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Monk Feehery says, “You do not need to be a runner to join in on the fun. We will have a costume contest for some Y swag and gift prizes from local businesses after the run. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
“Come join us for a cup of coffee and a healthy snack at 11 a.m. before the run or enjoy some after the run. Bring your kids or other friends to run with you or have them ride a bike or scooter next to you for some fun. Stroller, dog and walker friendly – just be mindful of traffic and other participants, please.”
