The Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation golf tournament Oct. 2 raised nearly $30,000.
The tournament is one of three major fundraisers for the foundation as it serves critical needs for the residents and staff served in Knoxville by Hillcrest Healthcare.
As I was speaking to Lavonda Cantrell, director of marketing and special projects, she shared with me how she had just received a request for a patient’s medicine that he needed, but it wasn’t covered by insurance. “The foundation will cover this cost for him,” she said.
Cantrell said the foundation makes it possible to help patients that may or may not have insurance but a benefit has expired for a medicine, rehabilitation, dentures, hearing aids, therapy, etc.
The foundation has even supported families with burial expenses when there has been an unexpected patient death that put the family in a financial bind.
The foundation not only supports the patients and families, but also Hillcrest employees are able to apply for aid to continue their education toward CNA certification.
