Hike on Presidents’ Day

Melanie StatenAnderson, Our Town Outdoors

Nothing is more refreshing than a mid-winter hike at the 260-acre UT Arboretum in Oak Ridge. The UT Arboretum Society will hold a Presidents’ Day Hike on Saturday, February 18, at the  Arboretum, 901 S. Illinois Avenue.

Enjoy the forests and trails in this lovely, wooded setting before spring begins next month. Everyone is welcome to participate in this FREE guided hike.

Newcomers as well as previous participants are invited to join the hike. This is a great opportunity to walk off the winter doldrums and get outside for some fresh air and exercise.

Join the hike that begins at 9 a.m. outside the UT Arboretum Visitors Center. The group will then leave for a guided hike that will be around two miles.

The Visitors Center will not be open but portable restrooms are available in the parking lot area. Please wear clothes appropriate to the weather and boots or good shoes for outdoor walking.

We aim for this hike to be suitable for all, but the difficulty level is dependent on individual fitness. Be sure to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated as you hike. Due to ongoing research projects on our grounds, we are unable to allow pets.
