The 5th annual Heart of Summer Triathlon will be held at the Davis Family Y in Farragut at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. This triathlon is for adult athletes with special needs. Each racer will have a volunteer accompany them throughout the race to motivate them and assist as needed.
Kim Ballard, chief operations officer for the East Tennessee Y, calls this her favorite Y event because it shows what the Y is all about – fitness, volunteer support and caring.
The Y offers this event and training sessions free of charge for its special needs participants. Volunteers can sponsor an athlete, donate to support the event or volunteer on race day.
