Plans for the new Hardin Valley Community Center are moving forward, with land preparation for the building now underway.
The Knox County facility will be built on a 4.5-acre site at 12734 Hickory Creek Road in Knoxville. The planned 3,800-square-foot community center will provide a dedicated gathering place for residents in the growing Hardin Valley area.
A walking trail around the property is also anticipated, adding an outdoor recreational feature to the project.
The total project cost is listed at $3.3 million, with construction costs estimated at approximately $2.95 million. The Public Building Authority approved $3 million for the project July 15, 2026, and project information lists an additional $300,000 PBA board vote.
Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 28, 2026, with completion anticipated by Oct. 28, 2027. The dates may be adjusted as work progresses.
Johnson & Galyon Construction is serving as the general contractor through a construction manager-at-risk arrangement. Lose Design and Ardurra are the project’s design team.
Renderings show a low-profile community building with stone columns, covered entry areas and a large multipurpose room. The floor plan also includes supporting spaces for community activities and facility operations.

The project will give Hardin Valley residents a closer location for meetings, programs and community events while the anticipated walking trail will provide another way for neighbors to enjoy the property.
Land preparation marks an important early step toward turning the long-discussed community center into a permanent neighborhood resource.
