Get Out & Play: Boo!

Fall has arrived and just in time to enjoy all the spooky fun going on this month.

Ghosts gather here – this weekend and next weekend only, take a hike and listen to stories of hauntings at Big Ridge State Park. The annual, and incredibly popular, Ghost House hikes is an easy 1.5 mile hike offering three hike times – 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Register here.

Are you afraid of the dark? Grab your flashlight or headlamp and join Ranger Mayfield at Panther Creek State Park for a moonlit hike along Trout Lily Trail – a moderately-difficult, 2-mile trail, 2-hour hike starting at 7:30 p.m. Register here.

Each month the Taste of Nature series at Ijams Nature Center makes bold pairings of beer and natural history. October pairs the spooky world of spiders with hard cider. Begin inside by discovering the different families of spiders, their webs and lifecycles, then take to the outdoors to collect and observe spiders in their natural habitat. Register here.

There are many other festive activities taking place this month – check out the OutdoorKnoxville.com event calendar to plan your Spooktacular adventures!
