Get Out & Play: Summertime fun for the whole family

Carol EvansFeature

Mix up your summer routine and explore new ways to enjoy the summer and each other with these fun upcoming activities that the whole family will enjoy.

Need to breathe? Namaste your way to the beautiful Candora Marble building in South Knox for family friendly yoga on the lawn, every Sunday at 11 a.m. Stick around after yoga for a free tour of the marble museum and heritage center from 2-5 p.m.

Need to reconnect with nature? Join Ijams Nature Center on Tuesday at 10 a.m. for a little tykes hike (recommended for ages 2-5) and enjoy watching your little ones explore, find, play and learn. Kids will take to the trails to look under, over and into secret places along the way. After the hike, wander over to Jo’s Grove and let the littles play in the natural playscape. For older kids, ages 7 and up, go explore the treetops at Navitat Canopy Adventures as you ride ziplines and walk among the treetops through nets, bridges and tunnels.

Need to burn some energy? Take your littles to the greenway at The Cove at Concord Park on the second Friday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and join the family-oriented bike ride. After the ride, you can head over to the swimming beach and cool off with a dip or paddle in the lake. Concord Park sprawls over both sides of Northshore Drive and has separate entrances to access other activities like a skatepark, dog park, tennis courts and more!
