Carol EvansFeature

This Sunday, relive a childhood pastime by playing in the streets. Bike Walk Knoxville’s Open Streets event in South Knoxville gives community members an opportunity to explore their neighborhood in a safe, fun and family-friendly way.

The streets will only be open to pedestrians, bicycles, vendors and entertainers. This year, more than 70 organizations and business will set up along the closed route, offering activities for all ages including a bike parade, hula hoop contests, a giant battleship game, dunk tank and a ninja obstacle course – just to name a few. For the older crowd, you’ll find adult-activities to enjoy too, live music and plenty of food and craft beer vendors like Alliance Brewery, SoKno Taco and more.  Check out the full list of vendors here.

While at  Open Streets be sure to take advantage of Knoxville’s newest park, Suttree Landing Park! The 8.3-acre linear park is situated along the shoreline of the Tennessee River and boasts views of downtown. Park features include a festival/event lawn, children’s playground, a put-in for kayakers, three accessible river overlooks, picnic tables and a public riverwalk.   With picnic areas, a walking path and a fun playground –  Suttree Landing Park provides amenities for all ages!
