Garden palette

With my palette knife in hand, this 8×8 painting came along quickly, but in a different way. Traditionally, one adds paint to canvas with the dull, spatula-like painting knife. With this piece that wasn’t working for me. I wanted to portray bee balm blossoms with a distant mountain background. Non-success prompted a change.

Scraping off the scene with my knife, the bee balm morphed into a non-descript flower. A few left turns didn’t take me to the planned destination, but I’m still happy with where it landed. Hoping you like it too!
