Food City is continuing its longstanding support of the Pat Summitt Foundation with a recent check presentation totaling $17,000 to benefit the foundation’s annual golf tournament and We Back Pat Night for Knox and Roane County middle schools.
The contribution will help further the foundation’s mission of advancing Alzheimer’s disease research, supporting patients and caregivers, and increasing public awareness. Pat Summitt, the legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, established the foundation in 2011 after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Since then, the organization has become a national leader in funding research and providing resources for families facing the disease.
We Back Pat Night introduces middle school students to Summitt’s legacy of determination, leadership and service while raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and encouraging community involvement. The foundation’s annual golf tournament is another signature fundraiser that brings together businesses, community leaders and supporters to invest in research and family assistance programs.
Food City has been a longtime partner of the Pat Summitt Foundation, reflecting the company’s commitment to giving back across East Tennessee and beyond. Through support of organizations that improve lives, Food City continues to invest in the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
The latest $17,000 donation will help ensure the Pat Summitt Foundation can continue honoring Coach Summitt’s legacy while providing hope for families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
