The Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) will kick off Fire Prevention Month 2023 on Wednesday, October 4, with a fun night at “An Evening on Market Square” in downtown Knoxville. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and last until 9 p.m.

“This event will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about KFD and fire prevention, as well as participate in Stop the Bleed and community CPR training sessions,” said Asst. Chief Mark Wilbanks, health, safety and communications officer.

Kids will be able to explore a fire truck inside and out and enjoy roasted marshmallows. There will be opportunities to talk with firefighters about their jobs to see if a career in this key profession would interest you – for either men or women.

KFD officers also will be discussing and passing along fire prevention tips for your homes, yards and elsewhere.

And it’s all free!
