Finding the Zen in zinnias

Christopher RobinOur Town Arts

Moderate early August temperatures (less than 90 degrees) and thouzands of colorful zinnias found me zestful and zealous to put on canvas what was before me. Zooming over to Seven Islands State Birding Park, I parked myself low to improve the angle to my subject. So low that insects were zizzing about, but a gentle zephyr kept them out of the paint zone.

Seven Islands is such a gem for our community, you owe it to yourself to make a visit. Be on the lookout for wildlife, enjoy the native gardens, take in a ranger talk, or soak up some zen-like quiet deep in nature. The bees lucky enough to live there have provided honey to be sold to benefit the park. Visit Saturday, August 21. from 9 a.m. to noon to make a purchase. Buzz over soon!
