With apologies to Allstate Insurance, the Rotary Club of Farragut is “in good hands” as it approaches its 42nd year. Those hands belong to Megan Belcher, Val Privett and Teri Jo Fox. Yesterday, the 89-member club elected these three active and dedicated professionals to lead the club in its next three years.
As a point of explanation, Rotary clubs are not on a calendar year. The Rotary year runs from July 1 to June 30. Today, the Rev. Dr. David Bluford is the club’s president and will be through June 30, 2022.
- On July 1, 2022, Belcher becomes president for the 2022-2023 year. Away from Rotary, she is the relationship manager at United Community Bank.
- On July 1, 2023, Privett takes the gavel for the 2023-2024 Rotary year. Valerie is the owner and chief executive officer of Beacon Insurance Advisers.
- Only July 1, 2024, Fox will lead the club. She is a Realtor and owns the Knox Fox Real Estate Group in Farragut along with her husband, Eric Whitener.
“Belcher, Privett & Fox” has the ring of a law firm.
All three are relatively new members of the club as well. Belcher joined in April 2016, Privett in August 2017 and Fox in December 2016. And all three have worked hard during their four years in the club, as members of the board of directors and as committee chairs and co-chairs in various areas of service.
Belcher was asked about their being elected as presidents-to-be: “I think it has to do with the friendships that have been formed in the club and the desire to support each other. Specifically, Rotary has been focused on women and empowering women,” she said. “So I think that it is in front of mind and is playing out in our club.”
Currently, the club has 25 female members (28%) and yesterday the board of directors approved the membership for two more females.
