Eddie Smith, former state representative, has been recommended by Knox County Republican legislators to join Robert “Bob” Bowman and Hannah Hopper as majority members on the Knox County Election Commission. The legislators met Monday. The recommendation went to the State Election Commission which traditionally rubberstamps legislators’ recommendations. The spot became open when longtime commissioner Chris Hagerty was appointed chancellor by Gov. Bill Lee.

Dunkin’ of Tennessee has donated 13,000 coupons for a free donut to the state’s Red Cross chapters to encourage blood donation efforts in the region. March donors at Red Cross donation sites will receive the coupon upon donating blood or platelets.

Gov. Bill Lee has signed Executive Orders to lift the state restrictions on visitation to nursing homes and long-term care facilities 77, to allow for remote government meetings through April 28 78 and to permit remote notarization and witnessing of documents 79.

John Thurman Smoky Mountain Trout Adventure Camp is set for June 21-26 at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, sponsored by the Tennessee Council of Trout Unlimited. Applications are being accepted until April 1. Trout Adventure Camp is for girls and boys, ages 12-15 as of June 21, who are interested in science and the outdoors, especially fishing for trout.
