“Our Power, Our Planet” is the theme for Earth Day in 2026, described by Earth Day.org as calling on everyone to support “clean air, clean water, clean energy, protected natural resources, and climate stability.”  It is customarily recognized on April 22nd each year, with organizations and communities also gathering on Saturday, April 18th, for Earth Day activities.

In East Tennessee, you can stock up on plants for Earth Day at the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum’s Spring Plant Sale.  It’s on Saturday, April 18, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 2743 Wimpole Avenue.

Keep Knoxville Beautiful is organizing a South Knoxville Community Cleanup on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers can meet at 4409 Chapman Highway, where Keep Knoxville Beautiful will supply the gear.

You can take part in an Earth Day Wildflower Planting in Gatlinburg on April 22.  Gatlinburg SkyPark says that while supplies last, they’ll have native Tennessee wildflower seeds available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests are invited to scatter seeds off the SkyBridge to the valley below, in hopes of establishing more wildflowers.

An earlier spring event that supports environmental stewardship is Tennessee Tree Day in March.  The time to reserve your trees has been extended until March 8, and you can get more information here from the Tennessee Environmental Council.
