The Dining Duo wants to talk pizza! Vegas Insider tracked pizza orders during eight major soccer matches in 2025 to predict which states will be hungriest for pizza during the World Cup. Tennessee ranked 18th.

The study — “States Most Likely to Order Pizza During the World Cup” — ranked all 50 states. Here are the facts about Tennessee.

  • Tennessee’s 2025 game-day average was 49 out of 100.Next-day average: 53
  • That’s above New York (39) and more than double California (31)
  • Nashville drove the numbers.Nashville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and its young, sports-loving population has made pizza delivery a match day staple.
  • In 44 out of 51 measured markets, pizza delivery demand was higher the day after a match than on game day itself.

Nashville may be driving the numbers, but our area has two of the best pizza restaurants where we have found the tastiest choices.

Stefanos Pizza at 10573 Hardin Valley Road is open Monday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. We recommend any of their pizzas as the crust is especially well done and the ingredients are fresh. Pizza is cooked perfectly.

Universal Pizza at 2226 North Charles G Seviers Blvd, Clinton is open every day 11 a.m.-10 p.m. See our review from October 2024: here.

Dining Duo is looking for the “hidden gem eateries “where the locals fill the breakfast and lunch hour; those local haunts tucked into the out-of-the-way or right on the way places missed in the hustle and bustle of the day. Please email us your recommendations at knoxtndiningduo@gmail.com.
