From 9/11 Patriot Day to 9/17 Constitution Day, another event we should never forget. Constitution Day recognizes the September 17, 1787, signing date of the document that framed the vision of our founders.

Constitution Week from Sept. 17-23 is observed each year to reflect on the significance of the United States Constitution, which was designed to protect the rights of individuals through a government that would be accountable to the people and which would embody the values of equality and freedom that make up our identity.

Eleanor, daughter of Bonny Kate Chapter Regent Christine Gordon, rings a bell during the 2023 DAR Constitution Week Celebration.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) celebrates this week every year with the five Knox County DAR chapters hosting a Constitution Week Bell Ringing Ceremony open to the general public on Sunday, September 22, 3:45 at East Tennessee History Center, 601 Gay Street.

A short program will follow the 4 p.m. bell ringing, to include brief remarks from U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs and Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon. WBIR anchor emeritus Bill Williams will also participate in the program with Children of the American Revolution youth.
