  • Friday, Sept. 4 — Free Local Sunsphere Day — Knox County residents with a physical driver’s license can visit the fourth-floor observation deck free. The deck stays open until 6 p.m., with admission first come, first served. This is an especially good local-reader item.
  • Friday, Sept. 4 — First Friday / Keeping Trees — 5–8 p.m., Dogwood Gallery, 123 W. Jackson Ave. The free opening reception launches Knoxville artist Ashton Ludden’s Keeping Trees
