Candidates for Knoxville City Council from Districts 4 and 6 will meet voters in a candidate forum Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. until noon. Sponsored by Town Hall East Neighborhood Association, the forum will be in the fellowship hall of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 4904 Asheville Hwy. The fellowship hall is at the rear of the church with access off Holston Drive.
District 4 includes much of Fountain City, Holston Hills, and city communities in northeast Knoxville. Candidates are incumbent Lauren Rider, Jen McMahon and Jim Klonaris.
District 6 includes much of East Knoxville and downtown. Gwen McKenzie is the incumbent, challenged by Deidra Harper and Garrett Holt.
Early voting is Aug. 11-26, and the election is Aug. 31. Two candidates from each district will advance to the Nov. 2 general election.
