Come help Enhance Powell spend some money

The Enhance Powell committee of the Powell Business & Professional Association will meet 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Life House Coffee, Brickyard Road at Emory. The committee is open to all Powell residents.

Last week, Dr. Don Wegener presented $4,900 for use by the committee – the proceeds of this summer’s annual Travis Wegener Memorial Car Show. Wegener thanked the sponsors including Tennessee Valley Mustang Club, PBPA, and Sharon Baptist Church. Amazingly, the car show has generated almost $20,000 for beautification projects around Historic Powell Station.

Projects include the expansion of Powell Station Park including the 9-hole disc golf course, upcoming work on Collier Preserve next to the Powell Branch Library, and the linear park in front of Powell Middle School.

A side note: Members of the Broadacres Homeowners Association will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, to plant some 400 daffodils at the entrances to the subdivision.
