What comes to mind when you think of board games: Life, yahtzee, chess, Monopoly, Clue? I have a cabinet full of board games collected over the years in anticipation of relaxing family get-togethers, everyone taking part in one of the games, but somehow grappling to be the family with 8 sets of twins in the car traveling the game board of Life doesn’t end in sounds of laughter and merriment at my house. We have tried other games too like Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary, but you can guess how those turned out. Like when I currently watch Jeopardy, I just needed one more second or maybe it’s one or five more minutes so I can Google to find the answer.

A community volunteer, Cheryl Sutton, has found a solution for adult board games by starting W.E.B. parties around town. W.E.B. stands for “We Enjoy Boardgames.” The attendees meet and play those best-loved games we all know how to play and the participants actually enjoy the gamesmanship of friendly competition. So, if you want to become a W.E.B. participant, you can join the free event at Fountain City Social on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. and look on line to find other locations around town on other evenings. Also check with Fountain City Social for their many events throughout the month as the location stays quite busy with activity meetings for local organizations.
