Central High cheerleaders give back to community

Susan EspirituFountain City

Central High School celebrated Homecoming, crowning Ella Grossman as queen. Ella was the candidate from the CHS cheerleaders and their 75 hours of community service cemented her victory.

In a three-week span to support their homecoming candidate, the cheerleading team volunteered at The Salvation Army, Helping Mamas, Emerald Youth Foundation, Big Kahuna Wing Festival and with Knox County Schools. This included gathering over 7,000 cans to donate to Fountain City Ministry Center.

Those specific volunteer hours for Homecoming do not include the countless other community service projects the team does year-round. They normally volunteer at golf tournaments and other events supporting nonprofits throughout the summer. They also volunteer at Fantasy of Trees and ring bells for the Salvation Army.
