Celebration of Life for Aldena Phillips

Aldena Kay Phillips, 62, will be remembered at a Celebration of Life at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at First Baptist Knoxville. She died Dec. 18 from breast cancer. Visitation is scheduled from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

According to her obituary, Mrs. Phillips grew up on her family’s farm. She earned degrees in mathematics and accounting from Carson Newman University and retired from a 22-year career in the University of Tennessee’s Controller Office. She advanced to become the first female controller at UT.

Mrs. Phillips worked in domestic and foreign missions, helping orphans and underserved families. She is survived by brothers Wendell, Bart and Lee; sister Margie; children Daniel and Allison; and grandson Leo Alexander.

Memorial donations may be made to A Good Work Haiti, Mooreland Heights Elementary School – for the Music Program, or First Baptist Knoxville – to the Children’s Ministry.
