David Lawrence Macon, 90, had a long career in banking and philanthropy in Knoxville. He served as president and vice chair of The Third National Corporation, president and vice chair of Sun Trust Bank, president and director of the Bank of Knoxville and vice president of Commerce Union Bank.
Mr. Macon served his community as trustee of East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, vice president of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, president of the Knoxville Civitan Club, and treasurer of The Dogwood Arts Festival, The Metro YMCA and the Knoxville Juvenile Center. He served on the KUB board of commissioners and chaired the board of Holston Gasses.
He served as elder for both West End and Farragut Churches of Christ. Additional obituary info here.
Funeral services will be held at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel on Saturday, April 2. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. with the funeral at 1:30.
