Breaking: Senate passes voucher bill

Sandra ClarkGossip and Lies

Gov. Bill Lee’s Education Savings Account (voucher) bill has passed the state Senate, 20–13. Knox area legislators split, with Sens. Becky Massey, Richard Briggs and Frank Niceley voting no, while Speaker Randy McNally voted yes. The bill now goes to a conference committee (appointed by the speakers, both for the bill) to resolve differences in the House and Senate versions. It looks like this bill, this year will be limited to Nashville and Memphis (Davidson and Shelby counties).

The camel’s nose is under the tent.
