The boys and girls of summer are at it again.

The Knoxville Senior Co-Ed Softball League is underway. It’s terrific recreation for participants (men age 60 and older and women 55-plus). Even former Knox County Commissioner Mark Harmon has been seen rounding the bases.

Tracy Owens wrote about the league for Knox TN Today last year.

Pat Walker, who lives in Luttrell, is co-general manager. He’s recruiting for additional players, especially women, to form eight teams. According to the city’s website, there are currently six.

“We have players in their 80s,” said Walker.

Newcomers have been in spring training for two weeks with league play starting Tuesday, April 16, weather permitting. Two games with veteran players are scheduled for today (4/11).
