Autumn comes sooner than later to certain portions of the Southern Appalachians. When looking for the first fall color, the savvy leaf looker will gravitate north and elevate high. Sunrise can also illuminate the scene. All of these factors arrived together on Bass Lake, a 22-acre reservoir located in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, on October 7, 2023.
Soon, everything around us will show orange, reds and gold. This may be the most beautiful of our seasons.
