As we provide the conclusion of the 25/26 high school basketball season, the spring sports season is heating up, and we will start with baseball.
One key baseball series was played Monday and Tuesday between Christian Academy of Knoxville and Grace Christian Academy, rivals in Division II-A. Last spring, GCA beat CAK for the first time in a decade, so the match-up was much anticipated by both teams.
Monday’s game at Grace ran the full seven innings, a nail-biter for both sides, with the score tied 3-3 for most of the contest. CAK scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th inning, and Grace could not get the tying run across the plate in the bottom of the inning, losing the contest 4-3.
Tuesday’s rematch was held at CAK and again provided a bit of drama, as Grace led 2-0 until the late innings, when they increased the lead to 6-0, which held up as the final score after seven. Nathan Early pitched the shutout, staying on the mound through the seven trips on the field.
Back to basketball to close the season.
The Tennessee Sports Writers Association and USA Today Network announced the basketball rankings for the 2025-26 season on Monday, March 23. The Top 10 teams in each of the four Division I classifications and Top 5 in two Division II classes were selected by TSWA members and USA Today writers with first-place votes in parentheses and total points based on 10 points for a first-place vote through one point for a 10th-place vote.
