One of the things that makes East Tennessee special is that when there’s a need, people step up. Volunteer East Tennessee (a program of the United Way of Greater Knoxville) is the region’s premier volunteer center, serving as a match-maker between community volunteers and local nonprofit organizations.
The organization serves as a bridge between people who want to give back and the nonprofits that depend on volunteers. By connecting individuals, families, businesses and community groups with meaningful service opportunities, Volunteer East Tennessee helps strengthen communities across our region.
Each year, thousands of volunteers donate their time through projects that support food banks, schools, neighborhood cleanups, senior programs, disaster recovery efforts, and countless other nonprofit initiatives. Every hour volunteered makes a difference, whether it’s serving a meal, planting flowers, mentoring a child, or lending a hand at a community event.
Volunteer East Tennessee also encourages businesses to get involved through employee volunteer projects that benefit local nonprofits and build stronger teams. Those partnerships often create lasting relationships between companies and the organizations they serve.
Perhaps the greatest gift Volunteer East Tennessee provides is making it easy to get involved. Many people want to volunteer but aren’t sure where to start.
