For Claudia Stallings, a home represents much more than a real estate transaction. It means safety, stability and the opportunity for a family to build a better future.
As chief operating officer and partner at Wallace Real Estate, Stallings has spent more than two decades helping people navigate the housing market. But her commitment to housing extends beyond her professional career and into her service with Family Promise of Knoxville, an organization dedicated to helping families with children facing homelessness and housing insecurity.
Stallings serves as treasurer of the Family Promise board of directors, combining her professional understanding of housing with a commitment to families who are struggling to maintain a safe place to live.
Understanding what it means to lose a home
In an October 2024 column titled Housing Grief Amid Loss, Stallings addressed something often overlooked in conversations about homelessness: the emotional toll of losing a home.
She explained that housing instability can affect families for many reasons, including job loss, unexpected expenses, natural disasters and circumstances beyond their control.
For children, the loss of a stable home can be especially difficult. Beyond the practical challenges of finding shelter, families may experience grief, uncertainty and fear about what comes next.
Stallings encouraged real estate professionals to approach people experiencing housing loss with patience, understanding and compassion.
It is a perspective that connects her professional experience with the mission of Family Promise.
Helping families move toward stability
Family Promise of Knoxville works to prevent family homelessness while providing emergency shelter, transitional housing and supportive services for families who need assistance.
Its mission extends beyond providing a temporary place to stay. The organization works to help parents and children regain stability and move toward independence.
Stallings has helped bring attention to that mission through her leadership and Wallace Real Estate’s support of Family Promise fundraising events, including its golf tournament and annual Pasta & Bluegrass Festival.
Speaking about the organization’s work during a Wallace-sponsored golf tournament, Stallings said:
“At Wallace, we believe home is more than a place. It represents safety, stability and the opportunity to build a better future.”
That belief reflects the connection between her career in real estate and her community involvement.
Leadership beyond the office
Stallings began her real estate career in 2004 and rose through the ranks at Wallace, becoming the company’s first female vice president of residential sales in 2016 and later chief operating officer and partner.
A 2022 graduate of Leadership Knoxville, she has also dedicated time to educating and mentoring real estate professionals. She has led training sessions, taught industry courses and shared her expertise through columns and public appearances.
Her professional accomplishments are substantial, but her involvement with Family Promise reflects another dimension of leadership: using experience and community connections to support people who may never become real estate clients.
As Wallace Real Estate celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2026, Stallings’ service is an example of how a business leader can contribute to the community beyond the workplace.
For families facing housing uncertainty, the goal is not simply finding four walls and a roof. It is restoring the sense of security that allows parents and children to move forward.
And that is a mission worthy of going above and beyond.
