In today’s competitive landscape, some people, organizations, and companies stand out by serving the community or customer by going ‘Above and Beyond’ expectations.
Make-A-Wish East Tennessee goes Above & Beyond to grant wishes to children ages 2½ to 18 with critical conditions, providing hope, strength, and joy. Wishes are medicine and can help children face treatment with renewed commitment. The chapter granted 87 wishes in FY25 and is on pace to grant 100+ in FY26.
Benji’s wish celebration is one way Make-A-Wish East Tennessee is highlighting the impact of local wishes. Benjamin’s wish to have DJ equipment came true during a special “Lane to Fame” wish reveal and celebration at Strike & Spare Fountain Lanes on Broadway. The 12-year-old battles a genetic disorder that he’s described as “not that fun” – surely an understatement. Benji’s love of music and DJing will take center stage as his wish is revealed and celebrated alongside family, friends, and the community. In addition to music, the teenager loves bowling and is a member of his school team.
The celebration featured a special guest appearance by Sterling Henton, known as “Sterl the Pearl,” a former University of Tennessee quarterback and current DJ at Volunteer sporting events.
April is World Wish Month, a global celebration of the power of a wish and the community of donors, volunteers, and partners who make wishes possible. World Wish Month honors the founding wish that inspired the Make-A-Wish movement in 1980 and culminates each year on April 29, known as World Wish Day. Throughout the month, Make-A-Wish chapters around the world are featuring the life‑changing impact of wishes for children facing critical illness.
