A toast of New Year’s wishes

Christopher RobinOur Town Arts

Prost! Cheers! Salud! Sante’!

In a toast to the New Year, I wish you all the usual good things – health, happiness, peace and prosperity. But let me also wish you some unusual things necessary for comfort.

  • Resilience
  • Fortitude
  • Elasticity
  • Mobility
  • Empathy
  • Wisdom
  • Passion
  • Connections

A nice round dozen wishes to represent these 12 wine stems or the 12 months of the year. Often seeing things others don’t, or paying attention to odd things, I photographed these glasses after a cruise bartender polished them. An air of mystery is added by not showing the entire vessel, making one work to recognize the subject. Catching the afternoon light was more intoxicating than the imbibition they would soon hold.

Will your glass be empty or full this year?

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work.
