Each year, the Food City School Bucks program awards $800,000 to more than 1,000 participating schools. Company officials are currently presenting checks from the 2025–2026 program.
“Food City is committed to supporting the education of our youth,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. “Our School Bucks Program provides much-needed support to schools across our market area. Since the program’s inception, we’ve awarded more than $24.5 million to participating schools.”
Food City has also pledged an additional $800,000 in contributions for the upcoming school year. Through the School Bucks Challenge, earning rewards for your school is simple—customers earn one point for every dollar spent using their Food City ValuCard.
This year, Food City has introduced a new feature to make point collection easier than ever. During designated Spirit Weeks, customers can earn bonus points by purchasing participating items.
The 2026–2027 School Bucks Challenge will run from July 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027. To ensure points are credited to your school of choice, visit foodcity.com/schoolbucks and link your ValuCard to your preferred school. Funds are distributed based on the percentage of customer purchases assigned to each school, and schools can track their progress online at foodcity.com.
