March is just around the corner, bringing with it perfect weather for reading and wandering. To celebrate the shift into spring, the library has a full slate of bookish gatherings paired with some of Knoxville’s loveliest nearby green spaces.

Sunday, March 2 — 2:00 Book Club at Powell Branch Library
Join the new 2:00 Book Club as they discuss The Victory Garden by Rhys Bowen. It’s an especially fitting pick as the season begins to bloom. While you’re there, take a few minutes to explore the Collier Preserve next door. The short path to Beaver Creek offers a peaceful stroll. You might catch sight of a beaver, but you’re almost guaranteed to spot a variety of birds.

Monday, March 3 — Literary Social Hour at Halls Branch Library, 1 p.m.
This relaxed gathering is perfect for sharing recent reads and picking up recommendations. Afterward, enjoy the adjacent greenway connecting to Halls Community Park. The route winds through unique wetland areas, nature trails, and a scenic overlook — ideal for stretching your legs after good conversation.

Saturday, March 7 — The Local Chapter at Burlington Branch Library, 2 p.m.

This installment of the local author series features Octavia Webb, who will discuss her book Mixed Bloodline and her mission to encourage people with hurting hearts. Finish the afternoon with a rejuvenating walk through nearby Thomas “Tank” Strickland Park.

Monday, March 9 — All Over the Page at Lawson McGhee Library, 6:30 p.m.
Head downtown as the group discusses This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub, with Beth Miller leading the conversation. Pair the evening with a riverside greenway walk or a meander through World’s Fair Park — both especially lovely this time of year.

There are plenty more book discussions throughout the month and lots of beautiful parks and greenways to be discovered. Enjoy the journey!
