The TN Office of Outdoor Recreation is coming to Knoxville on Thursday, November 14, 2024, for a 5:30-7 p.m. public input session on the Tennessee Blueway Strategic Plan, according to Brad Collett of the Beaver Creek Kayak Club. Location: Legacy Parks office, 900 Volunteer Landing Lane in downtown Knoxville.

Sierra Club Harvey Broome Chapter will host authors of the new third edition of Cherokee National Forest Hiking Guide by Will Skelton, Richard Harris, James Wedekind and Hiram Rogers. The club meets from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville.
Billed as the only hiking guidebook to all of the trails in the Cherokee National Forest, the new edition was recently published by UT Press. It covers 840 miles of trails (plus the Benton MacKaye Trail’s 99 miles) and 225 trails in the 555,598 acres National Forest (all more than in the Smokies). All four authors will attend – four of 39 people who worked on the book.
