Lorraine Hart: Making good trouble

Sandra ClarkObits

Dr. Lorraine Hart has been low profile lately, but her impact on Knoxville has been immense. Dr. Hart died on July 3, 2021, at Granny’s Place in Clinton. She was 92.

She moved to Knoxville in 1969 with her then-husband, Dr. Edward Hart, a physics professor at UT. After time off to raise two sons, Lorraine Hart earned a doctorate in educational psychology from UT and enjoyed a career as a school psychologist, guidance counselor, social worker and clinician in private practice.

Her community impact came outside of her professional work, however. She was a strong advocate for the Democratic Party and on specific issues, such as gay rights and children’s issues. She leaves many friends in her adopted hometown. Additional obituary info is here.
