  • Welcome to Heresville: A1LabArts, 23 Emory Place, will host this art exhibit featuring ceramic sculptures by Booder Barner and word paintings by Robert H. Thompson starting Friday, Nov. 3.
  • Sean Gilbert, senior vice president of housing for Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC), has been selected as the 2017 Emerging Leader by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. Gilbert received the award at NAHRO’s national conference held Oct. 27-29 in Pittsburgh.
  • The Salvation Army will kick off its annual Red Kettle Campaign on Friday, Nov. 10, across its six-county service area. This year’s goal is 8 percent higher than the total raised in last year’s campaign. Leaders are seeking volunteer bell ringers as well as hired bell ringers to help fill the locations and shifts that are not popular with volunteers to help the campaign to reach its goal. The Salvation Army is hosting hiring sessions from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2-4 p.m. each Wednesday at its N. Broadway campus. Info: 865-525-9401.
