The Sierra Club’s Harvey Broome Group, based in Knoxville/Knox County and 25 surrounding counties, is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a local group of the Tennessee Chapter of the Sierra Club.

The group is hosting on Tuesday, December 13, a members-only, pot-luck dinner at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church on Kingston Pike, with live music by Maggie Longmire and RB Morris, an historical slide show and video presentation, tales of days gone by from some of the old-timers and an outlook on the future of the group.

Gerald A. “Jerry” Thornton is the current chair. The group meets at 7 p.m. each second Tuesday at the TVUUC. New members are welcomed.

Founder Will Skelton has written a “short” 6,000-word history of the group which is here: HARVEY BROOME GROUP HISTORY 12-8-22

You’ll find a lot of names you know and projects you support.
