Whiteside, Frei served community well

Two well-known Knoxvillians, a businessman and a longtime movie-theater manager, are among those who passed away recently.

David Frei, 74, of Knoxville, retired after a career in local movie-theater management. He was most recently the 17-year manager at Carmike 10. A graduate of Rule High School, he served the community as a member of the Masons, Shriners, and was an Eagle Scout. He was a longtime member of New Salem United Methodist Church, according to his obituary. Services are Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Wade B. Whiteside, 94, was owner/broker of Whiteside Realty. He served in World War II and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He served a term as president of the Knoxville Association of Realtors and chaired the board of the Union Rescue Mission, according to his obituary.
