Ready, Set, Design! HSTV launches community T-shirt contest
The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley has officially launched a T-shirt design contest, giving animal lovers of all ages the opportunity to create a design that could soon be worn by supporters throughout East Tennessee.
The winning design will become the shelter’s newest T-shirt and will be officially revealed at HSTV’s upcoming Mask-Fur-Ade Gala on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Bridgewater Place and for sale at the shelter after that!
HSTV receives no ongoing government or municipal funding. Our work is made possible primarily through the generosity of individual donors, businesses, foundations, and grant partners. Unlike municipally funded animal shelters, HSTV does not receive ongoing funding from the City of Knoxville, Knox County, or other local government sources to support our daily operations. HSTV relies on the generosity of the community to continue providing care and second changes to animals in need.
Now, supporters have the chance to make their mark. literally. Design submissions are being accepted through September 6. Entries can be funny, heartfelt, serious, creative or anything in between. The only requirement is that designs remain family-friendly. All ages are welcome to participate.
Once submissions close, the contest will move to Facebook, where the community can help choose the winner. Voting begins September 9, and participants can simply like their favorite design. The design receiving the most votes will be named the winner. The winning design will be transformed into an official HSTV T-shirt, with the big reveal taking place at this year’s Mask-Fur-Ade Gala.
The contest gives the community a chance to combine creativity with compassion while raising awareness and support for homeless animals. Whether you’re an experienced artist, a student with a creative idea, or simply someone who loves animals and wants to make a difference, HSTV encourages everyone to participate.

Pet Tip: Supporting your local animal shelter doesn’t always require adopting or fostering. Sharing adoptable pets, donating needed supplies, volunteering or participating in creative fundraisers like the T-shirt contest can all help give animals the second chance they deserve.
