Parents pitch in to help Powell Elementary School

Powell Elementary School is ready for another great year. Principal Denise Blefko is starting her second year at Powell after a short stint as assistant principal at Copper Ridge Elementary. The assistant principal is Karen Frost, a teacher at Powell Elementary before her appointment as assistant principal.

Powell Elementary has seven classes each in grades K-5 with an array of teachers in special areas.

A big change this year is that kids will need to pay for meals or complete the application on the Knox County School website for free and reduced lunch. Last year PES had a grant which covered free meals for all students, but the grant was not renewed for this year.

Open house was held Wednesday evening for grades K-1.
